Azul: New Brazilian airline
|

New Brazilian airline was announced on May 6 and the announcement was made by the founder and former CEO of Jet Blue, David Neeleman. |

The name given to the new Brazilian airline is ‘Azul’ which means ‘blue’ and the name is selected on basis of online vote in which Brazilian consumers participated and 157, 000 voters voted for the name ‘Azul’. |

It shows the importance of consumers in Neeleman’s view. |

According to an internal source, earlier the proposal for the new airline was not accepted by the board as they were not in mood to take initiative for the new airline.

As far as the features is concerned, Azul includes features like leather seats, three inches more wide legroom, seat back satellite TVs and instead of bulky carts it includes tray services. |

According to Neeleman, they will be the first in Latin America who provides a satellite TV on each of the seat and it is new experiment in order to enhance the facilities.

Neeleman further adds that it was not as easy as they had to face certain technical hurdles. |

Azul would come in service in 2009 and will provide direct flights among 25 cities of Brazil that is considered a rare kind of service in Brazilian travel industry. |

Business travel market is accounting for 75% of air travel and Azul is supposed to focus also on the business travel market. |

Neeleman is thinking to add the bus fare with the flight ticket that will offer the passenger a free bus service from the airport to their destination. |
